Notable outcomes

• Acted for and advised a high net-worth client in respect of financial settlement matters, including coordination with international tax advisors in relation to assets held across multiple jurisdictions. Matter involved net assets in excess of $40 million and ultimately resolved by consent.

•  Acted in and negotiated the resolution of high-conflict property and maintenance proceedings involving a litigation guardian, multi-jurisdictional assets, wastage issues and asset protection. Included consultation with international lawyers on forum, service and enforcement issues.

•  Advised on and finalised an agreed financial settlement, including drafting complex Consent Orders and coordinating with accountants on the tax-effective division of an asset pool exceeding $130 million involving complex trust, corporate and real property interests.

•  Acted for a client in respect of enforcement proceedings concerning the distribution of funds pursuant to Final Property Orders, and negotiating a swift resolution of the matter.

•  Advised a client in respect of an application to set aside a Binding Financial Agreement, Binding Child Support and Final Property Orders.

•  Advised an international client on Australian forum issues and financial settlement considerations. Worked closely with Singaporean advisers to implement a cohesive international approach.

•  Opposed attempts by a non-resident parent to reopen Final Parenting Orders, where reopening would have conflicted with medical advice concerning a child’s best interests.

•  Obtained urgent recovery Orders where the non-resident parent withheld the return of one child to the resident parent’s care, resulting in siblings being separated. Matter involved significant risk allegations and neurodivergent children.

•  Obtained recovery Orders where the resident parent unilaterally curtailed the children’s time in the other parent’s care, contrary to Final Parenting Orders.
