Paula joined Sayer Jones in July 2016. She has worked exclusively in Family Law since she was admitted to practice in January 2013. She completed her Bachelor of Law with first class honours and Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Creative and Professional Writing with distinction at Queensland University of Technology. Paula received the Family Law Practitioners Association of Queensland Prize in 2012.

Prior to practising as a Family Lawyer, Paula worked as a Legal Associate to the Honourable Justice Bell and the Honourable Justice Kent and then as Associate to the Honourable Justice Kent.  Paula worked closely with members of the judiciary on a daily basis and gained valuable insight into how complex Family Law cases are determined. She spent extensive time in Court, both in first instance and appeal divisions. Paula therefore has an acute sense of the realistic outcomes a client can expect should a matter proceed to Court and an extensive knowledge of how to best litigate complex matters to Trial.

Paula understands the emotional and financial strain litigation can cause. She is committed to providing clients measured; objective and practical advice when negotiating matters towards an amicable resolution where possible. Paula is, however, comfortable and proficient in litigating matters through the Court system should it be necessary.

Paula practises in all areas of Family Law including property and parenting matters as well as Intervention Order matters. She has a wide range of experience but a special interest in cases involving relocation of children or complex property matters involving international elements.

Paula combines high-level academic aptitude with practical ability and interpersonal skills to ensure clients receive the best possible representation. She is passionate about helping people through what is likely to be the most stressful and emotional time of their lives.

Paula is a member of the Victorian Women Lawyers; the Law Institute of Victoria; the Golden Key International Honours Society; the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and the Australian Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
